Position Summary:
Brown Private Investigations is seeking a qualified Investigator to perform professional investigative services including surveillance, research, and reporting. This is a W-2 hourly position, not an independent contractor role. Employees must comply with company policies and procedures and will be provided the tools, training, and support to perform their work safely and lawfully.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct various forms of surveillance (stationary, mobile, covert, and remote)
- Perform investigative tasks related to criminal, civil, insurance, or domestic matters
- Gather and document evidence, including photographs, video, and written reports
- Maintain confidentiality and legal compliance in all assignments
- Submit clear and detailed investigative reports to supervisors and clients
- Conduct interviews and background checks as needed
- Testify in court when required
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of the Georgia 70-Hour Pre-Licensing Private Detective Course
- Valid Georgia driver’s license
- Reliable vehicle suitable for surveillance
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
- Ability to travel within and outside the immediate area
- Proficiency with video/camera equipment and basic computer skills
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., and perform physical activities like walking, running, or sitting for extended periods
- Must be eligible to carry a firearm under Georgia law (including required permit if applicable)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field
- Previous military, law enforcement, or private investigative experience
- Two or more years of surveillance or investigative experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Familiarity with investigative databases
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly wage: $20–$25/hr based on experience and credentials

- Eligible for applicable overtime pay under FLSA
- All job-related training and licensing costs reimbursed, where applicable
- Workers' compensation and unemployment insurance coverage included as per Georgia W-2 employment requirements
Work Conditions & Schedule:
- In-person work only
- Varying shift lengths: 4, 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
- Day, evening, and overnight shifts
- On-call availability and weekend work may be required
