Key Responsibilities
Material Management
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Organize and maintain inventory levels to support production or project schedules.
- Monitor stock levels and initiate orders to replenish supplies as needed.
Logistics Coordination
- Schedule and track the transportation of materials to ensure timely delivery to job sites or production areas.
- Work with vendors and carriers to resolve shipping issues or delays.
- Coordinate material movement within the facility to ensure efficient workflows.
Documentation & Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, material usage, and purchase orders.
- Update and manage material tracking systems or software.
- Prepare reports on inventory status, material usage, and delivery schedules.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with procurement, production, and project teams to identify material needs and priorities.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to confirm orders, delivery schedules, and pricing.
- Address material shortages or discrepancies promptly to minimize disruptions.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure materials are stored and handled in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Participate in inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain data accuracy.
- Report any safety concerns or material quality issues to the appropriate parties.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in material coordination, logistics, or inventory management.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial settings is a plus.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field preferred.
Skills:
- Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar systems).
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to solve problems proactively.
Certifications (Preferred):
- APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
Working Conditions
- Primarily warehouse or production facility-based, with occasional office work.
- May involve standing, walking, or lifting materials up to 50 pounds.
- Requires adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
