At Browning Day, our portfolio spans a broad range of project types within civic, cultural, healthcare, higher education, faith-based, hospitality, mixed-use, preservation and reuse, sports and wellness, and the workplace. Our success is based on the client's vision coming to life and includes a team of Architects, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, and support staff who play a part in solving complex design problems. We are seeking a Mid to Senior Design Architect who will add their skills and creativity to our diverse projects.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Responsible for developing a design that meets our client’s vision, scope, and budget of the project. Provide creative design solutions, and monitors drawings through all phases of the project to ensure design intent. Be the liaison for the clients’ interests on the project teams. Coordinate design focus for clients, vendors, and consultants. Present and lead meetings, interviews, and other public speaking events.
- Integral in guiding the internal team and external consultants working toward the project goals.
- Mentor and direct the design work of the project team.
- Creates Concept and Schematic Design.
- Coordinates building design while monitoring drawings in the Design Development and Construction Document phases.
- Initiates and creates project design solutions both internally with project manager and construction scientists in partnership with our clients, vendors, and consultants.
- Create and lead client presentations and adapt to client feedback with interactive tools like sketching.
- Support or lead client or community presentations and interviews.
- Works collaboratively on architectural design projects and coordinates with project design efforts.
- Develops creative-design concepts for large and small scale projects.
- Support kickoff to project manager and represents the needs of the client throughout the project.
- Incorporates and considers sustainable design solutions into all projects.
- May lead projects independently or partnered with project manager.
- Lead project teams in Concept and Schematic Design phases while ensuring design continuity with construction science team and project managers.
- Supports both business development and marketing initiatives.
- Some responsibilities vary based on experience, interests, and business needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess advanced creative talent in the communication of complex conceptual design concepts.
- Needs to have a strong understanding of building construction and detailing.
- Foster mutual trust and confidence by developing the client-designer relationship.
- Integral in guiding the internal team and external consultants working toward the project goals.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and provide high-quality service to clients.
- Ability to create and conduct presentations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Proficient knowledge of the following:
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Knowledge of zoning, codes and ADA/FHA/accessibility requirements and applicable codes pertaining to design considerations.
- Ability to create and conduct client presentations.
- Proficient to advanced experience of the following:
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Scheduling software (Team Gantt)
- Sketchup, Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D rendering software (Lumion)
- Knowledge of Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher
- Professional degree from accredited program.
- Preferred professional experience of 7-10 years.
- Licensure preferred but not required.
- Satisfactory completion of a background screening.
