Generator Technician: daily travel required throughout Michigan, occasional out of state travel required
A generator technician performs the skilled journey-level mechanic work required to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair emergency standby power and automatic transfer switch equipment. Perform related duties as required or assigned.
Responsibilities and Duties
Core Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance on power generation equipment and automatic transfer switches
Trouble shooting engine and electrical problems
Process required paperwork within deadlines Maintain parts inventory on service truck Provide excellent customer service Essential Job Functions/Tasks:
Perform preventive maintenance on power generation equipment and automatic transfer switches
Perform start-ups on new power generation equipment
Perform warranty work on power generation equipment Trouble shooting engine and electrical problems
Participate in the rotating responsibility of a 24/7 on call technician schedule
May provide guidance and assistance to apprentice/junior employees as required Related tasks as identified by Supervisor Qualifications and Skills
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches
Required:
Valid Driver's Licence
D.O.T. Physical (Company provided)

Drug Test (Company provided)
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Journey-level mechanical and/org electrical knowledge
Perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Use computer/cell phone
Electrical trade or technical school certificate
Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
Ability to use load bank equipment from various manufacturers
Attention to detail
Generac Certifications a plus
Kohler Certification a plus
EGSA Certification a plus
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Excellent customer skills
Good written and oral communication skills Equipment/Tools Required:
Hand tools & power tools required to perform duties
Leather steel toe work shoes
Service vehicle (company provided)
Multimeter (Fluke 87 or equivalent) Ammeter or amp clamp capable of 1000 Amps AC Phase rotation meter
Physical Requirements:
Lift 50lbs ~ 6x/hr Lift/push/pull/roll (using carts and lifting aids) ~ 100-500lb loads Climb in/out of service vehicle ~ 8x10x/day Drive service vehicle with trailer attached (may be required to attach and detach trailer to hitch, including hook-up of quick connect for backup/brake lights) Twist 180 degrees ~ 2x/hr Bend to waist level ~ 5x/hr Reach above head ~ 10x/hr Kneel frequently Climb ladders or stairs ~ 6x/day Walk on uneven ground Tolerate local area outdoor temperatures ranging from -20 degrees F to 105 degrees F and work primarily outdoors

Compensation:
Starting Hourly Rate $24.00 -$26.00 Hour based on experience. Will consider more for the right candidate. Paid Time Off and Health Insurance provided.
