We have an immediate need for a Litigation Paralegal to join our Albuquerque office. This role is a great opportunity for a skilled legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment while proactively handling the needs of busy attorneys in the Litigation Practice Group. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, a good multi-tasker, able to adjust to shifting priorities in a busy legal environment, and be self-motivated, with the ability to work well independently.
As in any small office environment, the responsibilities for this role will vary in scope and skill level, with paralegal and secretarial responsibilities overlapping. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drafting pleadings, discovery, and correspondence
- Familiarity with rules by jurisdiction and specific courtroom rules in relation to procedures and formatting of court filings
- Docketing all case deadlines
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, etc.
- Scheduling depositions, meetings, hearings, mediations/arbitrations, trials, and other case related events
- Assisting attorneys with deposition preparation and other discovery requests
- Preparing for client meetings, document productions, depositions, hearings and trials
- Additional duties include routine handling of correspondence, maintaining electronic case file, and maintaining an electronic case management system to ensure all deadlines are met for assigned cases
Required and Preferred Qualifications:
- We prefer candidates with 5 years of commercial litigation experience from within a law firm setting
- Experience should also include prior trial attendance and preparation for trial, case organization and management, calendaring, and excellence in performing all traditional paralegal and secretarial activities related to bringing mid- to large-scale commercial litigation matters to trial
- Experience with Relativity and cutting-edge e-discovery programs including technology-assisted review and predictive coding
- Ability to work as part of a team with attorneys, paralegals, and staff, and to also work independently with little supervision
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to follow through on multiple projects while continuing to be detail oriented
- Flexibility to work overtime and under the pressure of deadlines as necessary
- Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) knowledge and skills
- Limited travel is possible
Compensation and Benefits: Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401k match, profit sharing, and vacation/sick/personal time off. We are offering a wide range salary for this role that is commensurate with experience from $60,000-$70,000.
