What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vehicle Mechanic, White Fleet position at Brownsville Independent School District?
MUST UPLOAD HS DIPLOMA/GED and TX DRIVER LICENSE
Required
Helps keep shop, equipment and tools in a clean and safe operating condition.
Changes oil and lubricate all vehicles on schedule and maintains the proper records (mileage records, inspection sticker, insurance card, etc.) Inspects vehicles and evaluates condition of system, equipment, accessories and lights; services as needed. Repairs and maintains district vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Performs work in a productive and cost effective manner. Replaces clutch, pressures plate, and throw-out bearings, as required on vehicles. Overhauls engines as needed, on vehicles (gas and diesel engines).
Uses diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles.
Maintains accurate inventory on all parts and equipment purchased for vehicles.
Maintains all vehicle inventory and accurate updated records of preventive maintenance; documents repair and maintenance of vehicles. Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.Maintains all vehicle inventory and accurate updated records of preventive maintenance.
Works irregular hours as needed. Operates buses or other vehicles as needed; obeys all traffic laws.
Demonstrates process of preventive maintenance and visual inspections to Mechanic Helpers.
Replaces or repairs flat tires when needed on vehicles; maintains spare tires in stock.
Obtains phone and written quotes from different vendors. Recommends best low price to supervisor.
Checks new trucks or buses to make sure it matches with bid specs on P.O. and initiates paperwork to get new license.
Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
Maintains confidentiality. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees.
Maintains professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested/required.
Position may require overtime and will respond to service calls in a timely manner while serving on-call duty as necessary to maintain function of District facilities.
Must perform daily vehicle inspections and maintenance preventions before and after trips.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Director
Required
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English.
- One (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driving record Required.
