BRP AlumaCraft in St. Peter, MN has an opening for a Maintenance Tech. AlumaCraft has been a recognized employer in St Peter, building fishing boats for over 75 years!
1st Shift, 6 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm, Mon-Thursday, (10 hour shifts), plus Fridays as needed. Many three day weekends.
Purpose
Perform daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment. This position is responsible for equipment uptime, keeping machines and equipment in working order, and performing other routine machinery maintenance.
Must have the ability to use a computer for entering work orders and related details. Job instructions, time spent, parts used, and hours worked need to be documented for every job when work order is closed.
CNC router and press brake experience a big plus.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings and property does not deteriorate.
Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as : hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
Inspect, operate, or test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work in a computer maintenance management system (GuideTi CMMS) including job instructions, time spent, parts used, and hours worked.
Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Clean work area and maintain walkways free of litter and clutter, clean machines, sweep aluminum chips and other debris, keep personal effects stored appropriately.
Participate in daily morning meetings including stretching activities, assist with incident investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality improvements.
Follow all internal processes and procedures including incident reporting, rework escalation, and stop-call-wait.
Assist in training other employees on equipment and department procedures, engage in effective conversations with team members and leaders, escalate and discuss issues or potential issues to leads and supervisors.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS :
High School Diploma or GED along with a minimum of 1 year of related experience.
Will also consider those with a Certified Maintenance Technician (CMT) with 0 - 1 year of experience.
Demonstrated basic computer skills and experience with software for programming machines.
Ability to prioritize jobs and communicate necessary information to peers and supervisors.
Demonstrated understanding of machine guarding, machine isolation (LOTO), and general safety operating procedures.
Experience reading operating manuals, written programs, and written instructions.
Ability to follow instructions and effectively execute procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Preferred
OSHA 10
Experience with quality systems in a customer driven manufacturing environment.
Experience operating a forklift.
Experience performing isolation procedures (LOTO).
Courage and willingness to stop and question unsafe work.
Patience and practicality while working under pressure.
Education & Experience :
High School Diploma or GED and 3 years or experience
OR Post-Secondary Certificate
OR Associate’s Degree
