SpecPro Sustainment & Environmental is seeking a GIS Technician to provide geographic information system (GIS) support for data management, spatial analysis, and cartographic production. The GIS Technician will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining GIS databases, analyzing digital datasets, and producing maps that integrate geographically referenced data. This role involves applying GIS principles, using specialized software, and ensuring data accuracy to support engineering, environmental, and infrastructure projects.
The GIS Technician will be responsible for managing and maintaining complex GIS databases, analyzing and interpreting digital data sets, maps, aerial photography, and other spatial datasets. This includes performing GIS data conversion, transformation, and spatial analysis while applying professional cartographic techniques to develop maps and map series. The role requires a thorough understanding of GIS principles, concepts, and methodologies, including coordinate systems, transformations, and projections. Responsibilities also include utilizing digital data input methods such as digitizing, scanning, coordinate geometry, and georeferencing to support infrastructure and environmental projects. The GIS Technician will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure data integrity and produce high-quality cartographic products and other presentation materials using GIS software.

- Minimum of five (5) years of experience using GIS software and tools to create, manage, and analyze geographically referenced data.
- Strong understanding of GIS principles, including coordinate systems, projections, and spatial transformations.
- Proficiency in GIS data input methods, including digitizing, scanning, coordinate geometry, and georeferencing.
- Experience developing and maintaining complex GIS databases, integrating spatial data, and performing geospatial analysis.
- Ability to perform GIS data conversion and transformation while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Proficiency in cartographic techniques and the ability to produce high-quality maps and spatial visualizations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to geospatial data analysis.
- Experience with topological data models and relational databases.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with interdisciplinary teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of GIS experience in managing geospatial data and developing cartographic products.
- Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or other industry-standard tools.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret geospatial data for infrastructure, environmental, or engineering applications.
- Ability to work in an office and field environment, including occasional site visits.
- Ability to perform desk work for extended periods, including sitting and using a computer.
- Capability to travel as needed for project site assessments and stakeholder meetings.
- Primarily operates in an office setting with occasional fieldwork.
- May involve exposure to construction sites, varying weather conditions, and physical site inspections.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams, contractors, and government agencies..
