Utility Worker (General Warehouse laborer)

Overview:

BRT Extrusions, located in Niles, OH, is looking for general labor workers to join our expanding Aluminum Extrusions Company. These position entail working in one of our BRT plant departments. Individuals may work in Extrusions, Packing, Shipping, Paint or Thermal. We have day, afternoon and evening positions available.

BRT is a growing aluminum extrusions company, and as we grow, our employees will grow as well.

We offer, competitive hourly wages, medical, dental and vision insurance at 90 days, participation in our 401K (with Company match) program and 2 weeks of paid vacation upon eligibility/one year of employment. At 90 days, utility/hourly workers receive 3 unpaid sick days, which renew every year on the employee anniversary date.

Essential duties of the Utility Worker: (General Labor)

Ensure the quality of aluminum is inspected by performing measurement checks and visual inspections

Read packaging specs to ensure proper bundling

Retrieve racks of aluminum from holding area

Push racks of aluminum to and from workstation

Lift and position work horses on tables

Cut wood for bundles with a miter saw as needed

Use basic hand tools throughout shift (Retractable knife, deburr, etc.)

Pack the aluminum with the appropriate material per customer specifications

Move metal and/or materials manually as required

Document the appropriate production information on paper and a computer

For equipment operator positions, individuals must be trained and certified by BRT trainers

Requirements of the Utility Worker: (General Labor)

Must comply with company policies including but not limited to all safety policies

Must follow all Company procedures and guidelines including all safety guidelines

Must know how to read a tape measure or be willing to learn for quality checks

Familiarity with computers is a plus, we will train on the job

Must be 18 years of age to work in the plant

Must have ability to read and understand basic instructions (Spanish instructions are provided as needed)

Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing

Must be willing to participate in all required job and or employment related trainings. This includes but is not limited to all safety and technical or role or tool specific trainings.

Physical requirements:

This position requires the individual to work in a factory/manufacturing environment. The temperatures can fluctuate from hot to cold and the noise level is high. An individual in this role will be able to walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn, climb and push/pull frequently. With proper safety equipment, an individual in this role may work above ground level (off the ground) occasionally. An individual in this role will need to be always aware of movement and/or noises around them. An individual in this role must move 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally. An individual in this role will remain stationary and/or traverse the factory as needed per essential duties of the position. An individual in this role will be an effective communicator verbally and in writing, and this role requires individuals to read and follow written procedures.
