Loader Forklift Operator β Shipping Department
Overview:
BRT Extrusions, located in Niles, OH, is looking for an experienced Forklift Operator to join our expanding Shipping Department.
BRT is a growing aluminum extrusions company, and as we grow, our employees will grow as well.

This position pays between $16.00 and $17.50 per hour depending on experience.
Essential duties of the Shipping Loader Forklift Operator:
- Discuss with Supervisor and or Manager of production goals and duties for the shift.
- Oversee the loading and offloading of all freight arriving and leaving BRT.
- Inspect freight before and after loading to confirm quality.
- Write any quality defects for bundles on the Loader Sheet while inspecting freight.
- Properly secure freights after loading and note the freight is secure on the Loader Sheet.
- May be asked to perform the Utility Shipping Driver job duties on slow days.
- May help direct Utility Drivers while loading and securing trailers.
- Communicate with team by radio.
- Move product/materials manually as required.
- May help other departments with driving needs throughout shift if asked.
Requirements of the Shipping Loader Forklift Operator:
- Perform the Forklift Inspection before driving for the shift.
- Log into Forklift Monitor and perform all safety checks as required.
- Operate Forklift safely and follow all safety precautions and procedures.
- Blow out radiator with air gun for preventive maintenance on Forklift.
- Must obtain Power Industrial Truck training/certification through BRT and be recertified every 3 years.
- Must be able to work at heights if necessary.
- Must use safety harnesses if needed (Climbing on the truck trailer when securing the freight) and fill out the Safety Harness Checklist when used.
- Able to read and understand shipping labels/customer information.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must learn or have knowledge of locations in the building and staging areas.
- Report any unsafe issues or accidents on Forklift that need addressed to the Supervisor, Manager or Forklift Maintenance and follow all Company incident/accident reporting procedures.
- Must practice good housekeeping and keep the load areas clear of any debris on the floor that could be a safety issue when loading and offloading.
- Must maintain good attendance
- Must be willing to participate in all required job and or employment related trainings. This includes but is not limited to all safety and technical or role or tool specific trainings.
Physical requirements:
This position requires the individual to work in a factory/manufacturing environment. The temperatures can fluctuate from hot to cold and noise level is high. An individual in this role will be able to walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn and climb and push frequently. With proper safety equipment, an individual in this role may work above ground level (off the ground) for long periods of time. An individual in this role will need to be always aware of movement and/or noises around them. An individual in this role must move 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally. And individual in this role will remain stationary for as much as approximately 75% of the time. An individual in this role will be an effective communicator verbally and in writing, and this role requires individuals to read and follow written procedures in English.
