Description :
The Paving Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the milling & paving operations within the company. This role involves managing multiple paving crews’ personnel, equipment, budgets, and schedules to ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards. The Paving Department Manager acts as a key liaison between clients, subcontractors, and Brubacher teams to maintain excellent customer service and operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Safety and Quality Control :
Ensure that the safety and welfare of employees are prioritized in every decision and action.
Encouraging a no-compromise attitude toward unsafe practices, with appropriate consequences for violations.
Ensure that all paving work meets or exceeds quality standards and client expectations.
Knowledgeable of PA DOT Publication 408
Understand and enforce all Brubacher safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections.
Work with Brubacher Trainer to develop and implement training for paving best practices.
Team Leadership :
Recruit, train, and manage paving crews to build a high-performing team.
Provide ongoing coaching and performance evaluations for team members.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that aligns with company core values.
Operational Management :
Plan, schedule, and oversee all milling & paving operations, ensuring timely and efficient project completion.
Supervise paving crews and subcontractors, ensuring proper execution of work.
Collaborate with other Brubacher departments to coordinate site / utility activities.
Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as needed to maintain project timelines while maximizing efficient workflow.
Financial and Resource Management :
Develop and manage the paving department budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
Manage & track project costs, ensuring profitability and adherence to budgets.
Optimize the use of equipment, materials, and personnel.
Works closely with estimating to prepare and review bids for paving projects for internal and external clients.
Client Relations & Business Development
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on paving-related matters.
Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and Site Superintendents to deliver seamless project execution.
Identify and pursue new client opportunities for paving, grow outside sales revenue for the paving department.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Minimum of 7 years of experience in paving operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
