Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring that animals are comfortable and safe.
- Handle and restrain animals for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian or veterinary technician.
- Monitor animal health and report any changes or concerns to the veterinary staff.
- Provide basic pet care, including feeding, bathing, and grooming as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with scheduling appointments.
- Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques during procedures to minimize infection risks.
- Support kennel operations by cleaning kennels, exercising animals, and monitoring their behavior.
Skills
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to provide effective support in medical procedures.
- Proficient in animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both staff and animals.
- Experience in a veterinary clinic setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
