What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Coordinator position at Brunel?
We are looking for a Construction Coordinator to work on a contract in Corpus Christi, TX, with one of our major clients.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Construction Supervisor and oversee the daily activities of the site construction team.
- Ensure all project construction activities comply with contract terms and relevant regulations for safe, reliable, and cost-effective facility construction.
- Oversee a designated construction area and multiple disciplines within the assigned expertise, with a strong emphasis on piping and mechanical systems.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of industrial construction practices.
- Demonstrate a high level of awareness regarding health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards.
- Ensure adherence to facility construction codes and standards to meet quality requirements.
- Interpret and analyze construction documents, including specifications, procedures, and physical drawings across civil, structural, piping, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Proficient in reading and understanding P&IDs, isometrics, and pipe support drawings.
- Perform walkdowns to verify installation quality and ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Provide support for construction planning and execution.
- Manage scheduling, coordination, and measurement of construction activities.
- Monitor and assess EPC Contractor’s progress, productivity, schedule, craft staffing, material management, logistics, commissioning, and safety performance, providing necessary feedback.
- Support EPC contractors and subcontractors by ensuring:
- Compliance with site safety and environmental regulations.
- Conformity of materials, equipment, and services to contractual requirements.
- Achievement of safety, cost, schedule, and productivity targets in construction execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical field related to construction preferred. Equivalent experience, training, and certifications will be considered.
- 10 years of experience in major construction projects, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills.
- Acute awareness of safety issues with the ability to identify hazardous conditions.
- Effective communication skills across all levels of an organization and with diverse industries and governmental agencies.
- Strong pipe/mechanical background with proficiency in P&IDs, isometrics, and pipe support drawings.
- Ability to perform walkdowns to ensure quality and compliance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong analytical skills to research issues, collect data, and report findings to management.
- Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple activities and programs simultaneously
