Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs and preparing comprehensive bids for commercial construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction management, cost control, and project management principles. The Construction Estimator will work closely with the business development team, project managers and clients to ensure that all estimates are precise and competitive.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for various construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Utilize estimating software such as Bluebeam, Autodesk or HeavyBid to create efficient and accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers to assess project requirements and develop effective bidding strategies.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best prices for materials and services.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budget constraints.
- Conduct regular reviews of completed projects to improve future estimating processes.
- Maintain organized records of all estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to projects.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field is required.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles, including cost control and project management.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as Bluebeam, Autodesk or HeavyBid is preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex blueprints and specifications.
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on building relationships with contractors and suppliers.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- A degree in Construction Management or a related field is a plus but not mandatory.
