What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian (Full Time) position at Brunswick Community College?
General Function
Performs semi-skilled manual labor regularly cleaning the buildings inside. Work is performed under direct supervision on all campus building.
Essential Duties and Responsibilites
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop all floors, hallways, carpet, bathrooms and locker rooms.
- Responsible for cleaning duties of 55,000 square foot building including 8 locker rooms, 8 bathrooms, pool deck, basketball court, bleachers, offices, fitness center, track, and hallways.
- Dusts window blinds and sills; cleans inside of windows and mirrors
- Operates and utilizes buffer, pressure washer, backpack vacuum and mop buckets daily or weekly as needed.
- Interacts and communicates with various individuals and groups including supervisor, students, and faculty
- Deep Cleaning of bathrooms and locker rooms daily including restocking, disinfecting, shower cleaning, and dusting ceiling tiles.
- Work with custodial partner to complete daily duties and large projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to work flexible schedule nights and weekends as needed 40 hours per week.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Six months related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Requirements
Must be physically able to exert in excess of forty pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or standing, climb ascending or descending stairs, ramps, etc.}, balancing (maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching), handing (seizing, holding, grasping turning) for prolonged period of time.
