About this Opportunity

The Brunswick County Department of Social Services is accepting applications for an Interstate Child Support Agent II within our Child Support unit. This position works with other states to establish and enforce child support orders. Work includes :

  • Reviewing interstate packet received from the North Carolina State Office.
  • Sending acknowledgement of the receipt of UIFSA packet to the initiating state.
  • Requesting required information.
  • Ensuring the file contains all documents required by state and federal policy and regulations.

The Child Support Agent II is required to have a thorough knowledge of applicable legal procedures, in-depth investigation and preparation of cases for court, preparation of court calendars for use in child support sessions, and testify in court.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's and six months experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; or
  • Associate's degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related degree and two years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; or
  • graduation from high school and three years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Physical Requirements

    Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 10 pound of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
