About this Opportunity
The Permitting Technician reviews residential and commercial building permit applications; issues building, fire, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, mechanical-gas, stocking and shelving permits; issues temporary certificate of occupancy, certificates of compliance, and certificate of occupancy. This position assists and educates the public on the contractor portal for scheduling all inspections related to active projects as well as ensures all communication through BCMS with contractor is clear and precise while maintaining clear internal notes for all departments involved. This role also identifies flood zones and other jurisdictions that apply and verify address information for the Code Administration Department.
The Permitting Technician performs the billing, acceptance, and processing of payments. This role is responsible for money received at the end of the day for daily deposits.
Education and Experience
Requires an Associate's Degree with college work in planning or a related field with some experience in technical and administrative support work in a governmental setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
