About this Opportunity
Brunswick County Public Utilities is currently accepting applications for an Accounting Technician to join our team. TheAccounting Technician performs a variety of clerical and financial work associated with maintaining accounting records for water and sewer projects for the department. Work involves:
- Calculating, posting, and verifying financial data.
- Compiling and disbursing into ledgers, journals, computer files and databases,
- Calculating totals.
- Preparing invoices, account statements, reports and other records using a calculator and computer.
- Reconciling posted accounts and finance statements.

Education and Experience
High school diploma (or equivalent) AND two (2) years of clerical, bookkeeping, or accounting work experience; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Valid NC or SC driver license required.
- Associate degree and/or certification in accounting or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computers, calculators, printers, copiers, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
