Brunswick County Public Utility is currently accepting applications for a Chief Utility Plant Operator to join our growing Northwest Water Treatment Plant (WTP). Brunswick County's Northwest WTP is a 24 million gallon per day (MGD) drinking water treatment facility located in Northern Brunswick County near Leland. This facility is currently being expanded to 48 MGD and is in the process of adding reverse osmosis as part of the water treatment process.Under limited supervision, the Chief Utility Plant Operator performs specialized skilled work related to Brunswick County water treatment facilities and related appurtenances. Work involves coordinating the work of plant operations and maintenance personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of the County’s surface water treatment plant, including: Assisting with safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and coordinating required trainingDelegating after-hours emergencies and repairs to the water treatment plant.Assisting in the preparation of a variety of reports and maintaining records related to treatment plant operations. The Chief Utility Plant Operator must exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assignments. The Chief Utility Plant Operator will also be required to sign as Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) or Backup ORC as required. Reports to the Water Resources Superintendent.
