About this Opportunity
Brunswick County is currently accepting applications for a License Plate Agency (LPA) Specialist to join the Tax Office. The LPA Specialist performs work related to a variety of License Plate Agency activities, including complex vehicle title and registration processing. Work includes:
- Processing applications for tag, title, registration, transfers/renewals, personalized plates and stolen/lost plates for cars, trucks, tractors, trailers, motorcycles, motor homes and mobile homes.
- Providing direct assistance to the public in person, by mail or over the telephone, in the issuance of license plates, titles and collection of sales taxes.
- Entering data with speed and accuracy.
- Balancing drawer daily and running required reports.
- Working with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (NC DMV) to resolve any vehicle title issues.
The LPA Specialist must exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with taxpayers and the public. Reports to the License Plate Agency Supervisor. Education and Experience
High school diploma (or equivalent) supplemented with additional business courses and experience with public contact and payment processing; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- License plate agency experience (including knowledge of methods and procedures used to process forms and receive funds, knowledge of State Motor Vehicle titling and licensing procedures and practices, etc.) highly desirable.
- Must possess Notary Public Certification or have the ability to obtain during probationary period.
- Ability to complete required compliance training as required.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, calculators, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.
