Responsibilities:
Perform preliminary and comprehensive nutritional assessments of patients, creating written patient nutritional care plans, providing written and verbal diet instructions, and providing written and verbal information on food and drug interactions.
Attends care-planning conferences and interdisciplinary meetings.
Verify that care plan is followed via nursing notes.
Confers with nursing and physicians as needed.
Designs and provides group nutritional education.
Ensures team provides optimal nutritional care.
Attends and serves on Facility committees as directed.
Maintains optimal relations with Nutrition staff and supervision to facilitate daily operations.
Make patient rounds during meals, verifying patient’s dietary adherence.
Coordinates Nutrition Services with other related departments (e.g. Nursing, Social Services).
Explains department policies and procedures to employees, patients and visitors as needed.
Supervises the development of therapeutic diets using appropriate dietary modifications where necessary. Surveys food preparation and distribution for safe practices ensuring variety, adequate seasoning, visual appeal. proper temperature. and appropriate portion sizes.
Counsels’ patients, families, and staff about requirements; handles complaints and resolves problems.

Required Qualifications:
Speak, read and write English.
Bachelor's degree in the field of dietetics from an accredited college or university.
Registered through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
A satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Physical: Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, stretching.
Working on a computer or standing while communicating with patients required.
Registered by the NYS Education Department Office of Professionals, Dietetics-Nutrition Unit.
Preferred Qualifications:
Dietary internship desirable.
One year’s experience as a Dietitian in a health-related facility desirable.
