Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The medical assistant/receptionist performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks in a family practice setting, including taking patient vital signs, preparing patients for exams, recording medical histories, drawing blood, administering medications as directed by the physician, and assisting with minor procedures, all while ensuring smooth patient flow and maintaining accurate medical records.
Duties
- Clinical duties:
- Taking vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration)
- Obtaining medical history from patients
- Preparing patients for physical examinations by the physician
- Performing basic laboratory tests (e.g., urine dipstick)
- Drawing blood for lab tests
- Administering injections and medications as directed by the physician
- Assisting with minor procedures (e.g., wound care, ear irrigation)
- Administrative tasks:
- Scheduling appointments
- Handling phone calls and patient inquiries
- Maintaining patient records and charts
- Ordering medical supplies
- Performing basic billing procedures
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Schedule appointments and maintain an organized calendar for healthcare providers.
- Collect patient information and verify insurance details accurately.
- Answer phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries or directing them to appropriate staff members.
- Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.

Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant/Receptionist or in a similar role within a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on patient service excellence.
- Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail in a busy environment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software applications, preferred.
