Horizons at Brunswick
Horizons at Brunswick is an enrichment program aimed at fostering a love of learning and supporting personal growth in under-resourced boys from Greenwich public schools, from kindergarten through eighth grade. The program runs for six weeks in the summer and continues with six additional Saturdays throughout the school year.
The curriculum encompasses a broad range of subjects, including math, language arts, STEAM, swimming, chess, arts, sports, and includes field trips for a comprehensive learning experience. We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced professionals who have a unique talent for fostering a lifelong passion for learning in children.
The Co-Lead Language Arts Teacher for Grades 6-8th should be team player who is professional and caring, with the ability to implement engaging strategies that promote active learning. This includes both traditional methods and hands-on, research-based initiatives. The lead teacher will be tasked with the creation of lesson plans and curriculum, management of classroom activities, and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for all students during the six-week program, June 27 - August 8, 2025, and six Saturdays during the school year. Additionally, the co-lead teachers will supervise and mentor the college interns and high school volunteers.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years' teaching experience with an emphasis in language arts in MS grades.
- Participate and oversee the Summer Project Based Learning unit, as well as involvement in additional non-academic activities within the program, such as field trips.
- Program schedule is from June 27 to August 8, 2025, and six Saturdays throughout the year.
- Successful candidate will report to Program Leadership.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
