Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Position Type: Classified, Full Time

Reports To: Maintenance Director

Pay Rate: Hourly - $18.00 - $30.44

Position Summary

As a Full-Time Maintenance Worker for Brush School District, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of school buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC repairs
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance needs
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests
• Maintain grounds including lawn care, snow removal, and basic landscaping
• Assist with setting up and breaking down for school events and activities
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory
• Order supplies and equipment as needed, following district procurement procedures
• Collaborate with custodial staff to address building cleanliness issues as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in building maintenance or related field
• Knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety practices
• Basic skills in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and HVAC
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor throughout the workday
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Working Conditions

• Full-time, year-round position (40 hours per week)
• May require flexible hours including occasional evenings or weekends for emergency repairs or special events
• Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Exposure to moderate noise levels, dust, fumes, and chemicals
• Regular physical activity including climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting
