JOB TITLE: Quality Technician
REPORTS TO: Quality Engineer/Quality Supervisor/Supplier Quality Supervisor

JOB PURPOSE: Receives and inspects materials and products, such as incoming materials, automotive parts, gaskets, seals, stamp parts, springs and/or components, for conformance to specifications by performing the following duties.

AUTHORITY: All employees have the authority to stop operations/production for the following three reasons: 1) a quality defect, 2) an unsafe act, or 3) a health hazard.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Examine material or product for surface defects

· Verifies specified dimensions of product or material.

· Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.

· Interprets engineering drawings, using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing diagrams and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.

· Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical characteristics.

· Performs mechanical and analytical testing

· Operates any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job (when assigned and required.)

· Performs related duties as needed by supervisor.

· Familiar with ASTM Standards

· Strong mechanical inspections techniques required

· Ability and experience with optical comparator, programming CMM (coordinate measuring machine), PCDMIS Software, and different gaging techniques including OGP Vision System (when assigned and required.)

· Knowledge of Statistical Techniques Line, SPC, Capability Studies, etc.

  • Effectively perform any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary and appropriate.
  • Internal audits and cell audits.
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
  • Performs audits
  • Responsible for receiving inspections and testing (when assigned and required.)
  • Responsible for effectively communicating information concerning scorecards to suppliers (when assigned and required.)
  • Ability to perform PPAP with suppliers (when assigned and required.)
  • Responsible for auditing suppliers to standards (when assigned and required.)
  • Responsible for completing supplier scorecards (when assigned and required.)
  • Specific customer portal responsibilities (when assigned and required.)

· Must have working knowledge of the Core Tools used to support the Quality Management system, including but not limited to, problem solving, product launches, auditing, and continuous improvement activities.

· Responsible for working all hours required to support production needs, projects, and customer demands, including daily or weekend overtime when deemed necessary and appropriate

· Effectively perform any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary and appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience, Competencies and Education
  • An experienced technician with appropriate industry experience, preferably in the automotive manufacturing field. An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. An individual with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus. A well organized and self-directed individual who is "politically savvy" and a team player. An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills. A good educator who is trustworthy and willing to share information and serve as a mentor. High School Diploma or GED or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience—CQT Preferred (Certified Quality Technician).
  • Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents and data, and then effectively communicate this information to any level of the organization.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
