General Laborer

Position Summary

The General Laborer plays a vital role in supporting construction site operations by performing a wide range of physical tasks. This position requires good physical health and the ability to handle demanding labor, including lifting heavy objects, operating machinery, and working in challenging environmental conditions. The General Laborer helps maintain an organized and safe job site, assists in material handling, and supports other crew members in completing various construction tasks.

Key Responsibilities

· Clear debris and waste from job sites to ensure a clean and safe work environment.

· Prepare worksites by organizing materials and setting up necessary tools and equipment.

· Operate smaller tools, including jackhammers, drills, and other construction tools.

· Assist in directing traffic around work sites to ensure safe conditions for workers and the public.

· Load, unload, and organize construction materials to ensure efficient site operations.

· Assist with the assembly of temporary structures such as scaffolding, barriers, and other safety equipment.

· Follow safety rules and guidelines, ensuring compliance with all site-specific safety plans.

· Work in extreme weather conditions and help maintain site safety and organization.

· Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and lift heavy objects safely.

· Familiarity with construction tools and machinery, including smaller power tools.

Position Type and Work Hours

· Full-time position with a flexible schedule based on project needs.

· The role may include weekend and holiday work, as well as overtime when required.

· This role requires traveling out of town approximately 50% of the time.

Required Education and Experience

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Previous experience in construction or general labor is preferred but not required.

· Ability to operate small construction tools safely.

Preferred Education and Experience

· Experience with scaffolding assembly or other temporary structure setups.

· Basic knowledge of construction safety standards and regulations.

Work Environment

· Work is primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).

· Exposure to construction hazards such as heavy machinery, dust, noise, and moving vehicles.

· Must follow all safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment as required.

Physical Demands

· Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more).

· Constant standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.

· Working in various weather conditions for extended periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
