The Bryan County School System is accepting applications for Director of Operations for the 2025-2026 school year.
Position Overview
The Director of Operations will support the Operations Division in ensuring a high-quality learning environment for all faculty, staff, and students. This individual will oversee and manage key operational functions, including facilities management, maintenance, transportation, energy management, custodial services, and groundskeeping. The Director of Operations will provide leadership in operational planning and execution while serving as the backup to the Assistant Superintendent of Operations for capital project planning and management.
This position reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent of Operations.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required
Experience with strategic planning, forecasting and budgeting
Experience in a K-12 education setting preferred, including evidence of strong leadership
Successful experience in management or supervisory role
Experience with facility management
Ability to work collaboratively with other intergovernmental and support agencies
Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
Knowledge of logistics, planning and forecasting, and management in related fields preferred
Essential Job Duties
Oversee and coordinate daily operational functions, including facilities, maintenance, custodial, and transportation services.
Serve as the backup to the Assistant Superintendent of Operations for capital project planning and management.
Develop, implement, and monitor life cycle plans for various aspects of facilities, infrastructure, and applicable equipment.
Supervise school cleanliness and custodial improvements, including training programs.
Provide oversight of the maintenance and grounds
Assist in the development of long-range facility plans, including forecasting facility needs based on student enrollment and operational requirements.
Manage and oversee energy management programs, including monitoring energy usage and investigating rebate opportunities.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, district policies, and industry best practices.
Assist in budget planning and recommend budgetary needs related to operational services.
Collaborate with school administrators, district leadership, and external partners to support operational excellence.
Support emergency preparedness and response planning.
Work with insurance carriers to file and supply necessary information related to any potential losses.
Assist the transportation department with maintenance and cleanliness of the district’s white fleet.
Represent the school district at educational and intergovernmental meetings.
Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
Other duties, as assigned.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. Occasionally, the employee must stoop, kneel, or crouch and may need to lift/move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
