What are the responsibilities and job description for the CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR position at Bryan County?
This position will perform a variety of construction inspection and administrative duties relative to the inspection of site grading, road, water, sewer, storm drain, stormwater management, and sediment & erosion control per the approved plans, permits, and regulatory documents. Reports to the Project Manager with Engineering Department.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Responsible for the inspection and construction administration of all County capital improvement work including roads, drainage, water, sewer, recreational facilities, and building site work.
Responsible for field inspections, review of construction plans and shop drawings, processing of contractors pay requests, writing daily inspection reports, meet and coordinate work schedules and processes with engineers, contractors and outside public agencies, and management of all other construction related activities.
Serve as the County Local Issuing Authority (LIA) representative including site inspections, oversight and maintenance of the County Soil Erosion and Sediment Control program, and coordination with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.
Assist the County Planning Manager with reviewing Flood Plain details in Evolve and working with the County Code Enforcement Official in addressing drainage and flood related complaints within unincorporated Bryan County.
Performs other related duties as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree preferred in Construction Management. Minimum 3 years field experience in construction inspection of roads, water and sewer. Experience with Word and Excel software. The candidate shall be able to learn and be proficient in the use of the County project management software EVOLVE. Commercial building experience a plus; Possession of a GSWCC Red Card or the ability to readily obtain within six (6) months from the date of hire. Must possess and maintain Driver’s License.
