JOB DUTIES :
Accountable for ensuring business has quality materials at a competitive cost and payment terms to meet customer demand.
Responsible for the analysis of demand for externally purchased components and services and sourcing of that demand.
Set and execute commodity sourcing strategies for major purchases and lead sourcing negotiation and selection processes, meeting goals for delivery reliability, cost, payment terms and inventory levels.
Responsible for optimization of total cost of acquisition for purchases.
REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
5-10 years of experience of purchasing and material planning experience in an industrial environment.
Must have experience with steel or similar types of raw materials.
Experience with demonstrated results in optimizing total cost of acquisition in a low volume / high mix environment.
Working knowledge of ERP systems required. Super user status preferred.
Excellent team worker and written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter with high customer satisfaction bias with sense of urgency.
Prior experience in a short lead time make to order business model.
BS / BA in Engineering / Supply Chain preferred.
CERTIFICATIO NS :
Lean Six Sigma knowledge and experience required, certification preferred.
ISM / APICS certification preferred, active involvement in ISM / APICS required.
First Year Deliverables :
Reduction of purchase shortages
Meeting cost targets
Inventory reduction without impacting production execution
