What are the responsibilities and job description for the Local Driver position at Bryce Corporation Career Center?
Job Summary: Drives tractor-trailer combination or bob truck distributing or shuttling base materials and finished goods between plants and satellite warehouse(s). Drives forklift to load and unload trucks and performs other warehouse functions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Drives tractor-trailer or bob truck to local plant locations or warehouse(s) utilizing knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
- Backs trailer to dock door and applies wheel chocks and dollies as required.
- May use forklift to load and unload trailer as necessary.
- May drive bob truck to pick up or deliver product to facilities.
- Inspects truck equipment such as lights, tires, brakes, gas, oil, and water, performing maintenance as needed or informing supervisor or major problems.
- Drives truck or trailers to the repair shop as necessary.
- Picks up finished goods weekend trailers and callout shipments for evening common carrier shipments.
- Performs warehouse functions (approximately 80% warehouse and 20% driving truck).
- Receives call out lists on base materials, locating and transporting items to trailers for shipment or designated storage/holding areas using forklift.
- Moves trailers as needed based on Logistic Tech request from plants and warehouse.
- Continuous communication with Logistic Techs at SDC and plants for placement of product on the morning and evening shuttles. Such as print, base, inks and cylinders and any other designated items required at Memphis that day.
- Keeps warehouse and related area clean and organized.
- Performs other related work as required.
