The Hematology department at Bryn Mawr Medical Specialists Association is in need of a per-diem Nurse Practitioner to join their growing team. The Nurse Practitioner plays a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients, helping to improve their overall health and well-being. This position works closely with the team of healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions, as well as provide comprehensive patient education.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzes and interprets patient histories, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses
- Diagnoses or treats acute health care problems such as illnesses, infections, and injuries
- Recommends diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy
- Prescribes medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized
- Educates patients about self-management of acute and chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances
- Provides care to patients in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of medical conditions
- Obtains patient history, conducts patient assessments, orders tests or scans, diagnoses illnesses, prescribes medicines and outlines and monitors courses of treatment
- Partners with physicians in the development of care plans, and advises physician in changes of patient status
- Assists patients in the management of chronic illnesses and promotes health and wellness
- Adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of patient medical records
- Monitors the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
- Conducts complete physicals and counsel patients on health needs and improvements
Experience, Qualifications, and Education:
- Must perform work with a high degree of latitude
- Must possess expert knowledge of subject matter
- Requires an advanced degree in nursing (MSN or DNP), RN and NP licensure
- Ability to work as part of a team
