Apartment Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
General apartment and property maintenance including:
- Repairing and unclogging toilets, sinks, bathtubs, showers, and exterior drains.
- Installing closet doors, air conditioners, garbage disposals and ceiling fans.
- Removing carpets and wooden floors.
- Installing and repairing wires, plugs, and switches.
- Lawn care and snow removal.
- Painting communal areas and apartment interiors.
- Disposing of trash found in communal areas.
- Tracking inventory of tools and maintenance supplies.
- Ensuring that fire extinguishers, hydrants, alarms, and emergency exits remain in excellent working condition at all times.
- Unlocking apartments in instances where tenants have lost or forgotten their keys.
- Scheduling repairs that warrant special technical skills cost effectively.
- Effectively prioritize work orders and communicate with tenants in a professional, timely manner.
- Collaborate with property managers, vendors and tenants on maintenance and repairs.
- Keep accurate time cards and work orders.
Apartment Maintenance Technician Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in apartment maintenance technician or in a similar role.
- General carpentry, electrical, and plumbing knowledge.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds without assistance.
- Dexterity and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Available to work on weekends and be “on call”, if required.
