Description:
This exciting opportunity is for a Construction Project Engineer within the Construction Engineering & Inspection group based in Baton Rouge. The ideal candidate will have experience managing infrastructure projects and ensuring their successful completion from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
- Lead construction projects for roadway, interchange, and bridge projects following LADOTD and local agency standards.
- Apply standards from the LADOTD Construction Manuals, LADOTD Standard Plans, MUTCD, and AASHTO.
- Implement and monitor Work Zone Traffic Control Plans (WZTC/MPT).
- Perform accurate civil engineering cost estimates.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with project teams, manage and mentor junior civil engineers, and collaborate with other project disciplines during construction.
- Ensure work is completed accurately in accordance with quality control and assurance procedures.
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and special requirements.
- Manage and prepare Daily Inspection Reports to document work performed, materials used, equipment on-site, and other critical project details.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction engineering.
- Experience in highway projects involving asphalt and concrete pavement reconstruction, drainage systems, roadway lighting, traffic signals, utility protection/relocation, and pavement markings/striping.
- Bridge project experience including concrete & steel demolition, structural repairs, steel erection, reinforced concrete deck construction, retaining walls, and substructure units such as piles, piers, and abutments.
- Experience working on LADOTD projects and familiarity with SiteManager (preferred).
- Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment.
