Job Summary:
The role is also responsible for property financial reviews, budgeting, and ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements. In this position, you will work with the property management, leasing, construction, and other accounting team members to ensure all real estate activities are tracked and maintained accurately. Roles and responsibilities will shift as the portfolio and team evolves and grows.
Required Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from 4-year college or university
- Minimum 5 years’ experience handling a portfolio of properties in a Real Estate Accountant capacity
Essential Functions:
- Oversee all rental revenue billing processes
- Annual CAM reconciliations and estimates
- Oversee the accounts receivable process including reviews with property managers, process monitoring, and tenant follow-up
- Prepare, compile, and analyze financial statements and related financial reports for a portfolio of retail, office, and other property types
- Perform month end close responsibilities as assigned
- Assist the Property Management department in the budgeting process
- Review of budget vs. actual variances
- Management and tracking of CAPEX spending
- Review and analyze lease agreements for financial implications and assist in the setup and maintenance of lease accounting
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation
- Document and implement best practices for real estate accounting processes and internal controls
- Lead or assist in implementing and optimizing real estate accounting software and tools
Travel Required:
Minimal travel expected. Travel to Springfield, IL offices expected periodically or other travel as needed.
Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
