What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychometrist (2025-26) position at BSD Special Service Department?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a Master’s Degree in education with SDE certification in psychometry
- Must meet the requirements of the licensing agency
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the School Board
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services
JOB GOALS: To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by assessment in accordance with MDE, local, state, and federal requirements
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties as may be assigned, including but not limited to, the following:
- Meets all professional conduct standards as set by MS Educator Code of Ethics Standards of Conduct
- Reviews all MTSS interventions to determine appropriate testing instruments based on student strengths and weaknesses
- Conducts initial assessments of SPED referrals and completes reports with all components within the state mandated time frame
- Reviews all eligibility folders prior to eligibility meetings
- Participates in parent meetings as required and as part of referral and/or eligibility meetings
- Participates in reevaluation meetings as required and as part of referral and/or eligibility meetings
- Maintains test protocols and testing materials in accordance with state mandates
- Organizes with gifted contact the Gifted Screenings at the school sites
- Conducts initial assessments for eligibility in the gifted program as mandated by board policy
- Writes reports on any assessments conducted
- Conducts initial assessments for homeschool students as mandated by board policy
- Conducts initial and reevaluation testing as required
- Keeps an open line of communication with the parents or guardians, teachers, principals, and director
- Participates in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of development
- Follows the District Instructional Management Plan including the Multi-Tiered System of Supports
- Participates in professional growth activities monitored through the MS Professional Growth System
- Follows all board policies and procedures
- Maintains regular attendance and is punctual
- Promotes the district’s vision, mission, and goals
- Performs any other duties as outlined by the Director of Special Services
