Overview :
The Tooling Engineer will be responsible for designing, documenting, developing, and implementing procedures and equipment required to produce the companys products. This position works to enhance production efficiency through tooling and process developments while adhering to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes, including tooling design and process documentation.
- Lead problem-solving initiatives and program management for production issues.
- Oversee the design, installation, and debugging of tooling and capital equipment.
- Obtain quotes for tooling components and manage sourcing, construction, and trial activities.
- Develop and troubleshoot processes for metal stamping and forming operations.
- Specify required forming and stamping equipment.
- Collaborate with product and process teams to design, develop, and implement manufacturing tooling and fixtures.
- Provide engineering support to other departments as needed.
- Analyze manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions, including tooling modifications and machine programming changes.
- Participate in engineering change implementations (ECN) and process improvements.
- Investigate and resolve assembly, tooling, and sequencing issues.
- Develop equipment specifications and evaluate supplier quotations for new production equipment and full manufacturing lines.
- Work closely with R&D to ensure manufacturability of designs prior to release.
- Support production by troubleshooting issues in assembly and press operations.
- Participate in process validation, production pilots, and sign-off activities.
