SUMMARY
Brooklyn Basketball brings together the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty to establish a community-first basketball experience. Our goal is to grow the game for participants of all ages through professionally-led clinics and camps, community-focused events, instructional videos, unique basketball content and much more. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Basketball. This role will manage and oversee all daily operations of Brooklyn Basketball programs including but not limited to coaching, curriculum, scheduling, planning and execution. This role requires a strong understanding of the game, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to the development of young athletes.
The Director of Basketball will report to the VP, Brooklyn Basketball.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Oversee Brooklyn Basketball programming strategy including the planning and execution of program events, clinics, camps and year-round programs. Ensure sound operations with existing programs and support in identifying new areas of growth.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Brooklyn Basketball curriculum. Ensure the curriculum meets the highest standard of excellence in teaching the game of basketball and life skills.
- Work alongside Brooklyn Basketball Head Coach on the hiring, management and development of Brooklyn Basketball coaches and support staff.
- Develop and implement Brooklyn Basketball coaches’ education program.
- Establish quality control process, leading periodic reviews of coaches, staff, and individual participant performance.
- Oversee the calendar and annual schedule, including the Brooklyn Basketball facility schedule.
- Collaborate with Legal and Operations to ensure youth safety protocols and guidelines across all programs.
- Work with Facility Manger to oversee Brooklyn Basketball facility operations and schedule. Establish procedures to ensure that the training environment and facilities are well-maintained and up to standards.
- Lead the design, procurement, inventory, and distribution of Brooklyn Basketball gear and equipment.
- Build and manage relationships with local communities and basketball / education nonprofits to promote the program and increase participation.
- Support the VP of Brooklyn Youth Basketball to coordinate, implement and track Brooklyn Basketball strategy, including vision, mission, objectives, and key results.
- Support with the management and tracking of the overall Brooklyn Basketball budget and business planning.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 7-10 years of growing responsibilities within youth development, operations, and/or project management.
- Prior playing, coaching, or league/team administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and coaching strategies.
- Proven experience in recruiting and leading a team of dedicated, skilled staff.
- Experience working effectively in a multinational matrix organization.
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally if needed.

SALARY RANGE
$115,000 - $140,000
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent will work primarily in an office environment but will be required to travel to various areas within the NYC Metro Area to attend community events, clinics, etc. This position may also involved national or international travel for select events.

Salary : $115,000 - $140,000
