Position Overview
Managers work collaboratively across BSR’s industry and practice teams on a range of consulting, grant-funded projects, and collaborative initiatives. Managers ensure exceptional project execution and high-quality engagement with BSR member companies and other partners.
The Futures Manager reports to our Futures Director and is responsible for helping manage BSR’s Sustainable Futures Lab and futures project work, such as trends assessments, scenario planning, and futures visioning exercises. The Manager will also have responsibilities to the broader Transformation team as well as to a secondary industry mapping.
This position is full-time, based in Europe or the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management and Implementation: Assume responsibility for implementing consulting and grant-funded projects, with a focus on Futures. This includes overseeing project scope, timeline, deliverable quality and budget; managing clients and project teams; providing subject matter expertise; conducting primary research, including leading stakeholder interviews; utilizing tools; and presenting at and facilitating client meetings.
Team management: Lead project teams to effectively execute project objectives, outcomes, and impacts; establish the standards by which the project will be guided, including managing senior team members; and support team members’ learning and skills development.
Practice Management: Support the Futures Director in managing the Futures practice. This includes helping create, organize, and maintain futures content and related materials; supporting internal futures capacity building and integration with other BSR teams; and participating in ongoing horizon scanning and sensemaking activities.
Business Development and Member Company Engagement: Support the Futures Director in scoping and developing impactful futures project and member service work aligned with BSR’s mission to create a just and sustainable world.
Thought Leadership: Contribute to raising the profile of the Futures Lab and BSR more broadly by contributing to blogs, reports, and other BSR insights.
Member and Client Management: Maintain day-to-day client relationships; oversee member relationships; and support member recruitment and business development.

US: $104,099
France: 76,048€
UK: £63,147
Denmark: 633,746kr
Qualifications
- 7 years experience in relevant field such as business, sustainability, politics, history, philosophy, or international development.
- 7 years of relevant professional experience from a top-tier consulting firm, NGO, or similar role in a company or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience with or training in strategic foresight is ideal but not required.
- Wide-ranging curiosity and the intellectual agility to work with companies in various industries on a wide range of sustainability topics.
- Comfort working in a highly matrixed, global organization with colleagues of diverse backgrounds, skills, and expertise.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to synthesize complex information into decision-useful strategic insights for an executive audience.
- Outstanding writing, verbal communication, and facilitation skills.
- Proven track record of success in working with business in a client/customer-facing position. Well-developed interpersonal skills for high-level interaction with members and other companies.
- Experience managing multiple, disparate projects simultaneously.
- High degree of fluency in English, with fluency in a second language a plus.
- Willingness to undertake up to 15% business travel.
