Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Packer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing products for shipment by packing them securely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience with various warehouse equipment, ensuring that all items are handled safely and meet quality standards.
Duties
- Loading and Unloading: Safely operate forklifts to load and unload produce from trucks or containers.
- Transporting Goods: Move pallets of fruits and vegetables within the warehouse, cold storage, or production areas.
- Inventory Handling: Assist in organizing, stacking, and rotating stock to maintain freshness (FIFO method – first in, first out).
- Inspection: Check incoming and outgoing produce for damage or spoilage during transport.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of moved inventory, lot numbers, and any quality issues.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic daily inspections of forklifts (brakes, fluid levels, forks, tires).
- Compliance: Follow safety protocols, company policies, and food safety standards (e.g., cleanliness, temperature control).
- Communication: Coordinate with warehouse supervisors, loaders, and logistics teams for efficient workflow.
- Pallet Wrapping: Wrap and secure pallets to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
- Cold Storage Work: Operate in refrigerated environments for extended periods.
Experience
- Forklift Operation – Preferably in a warehouse, distribution center, or food-related industry.
- Experience in Cold Storage – Familiarity with working in refrigerated or temperature-controlled environments.
- Knowledge of Produce Handling – Understanding how to handle fragile or perishable goods to avoid damage.
- Inventory Management Experience – Basic understanding of stock rotation (FIFO), labeling, and tracking.
- Loading/Unloading Trucks – Experience with loading dock operations and proper load balancing.
- Safety Protocols – Strong knowledge of warehouse and equipment safety procedures.
- Pallet Wrapping and Stacking – Skilled in securely wrapping and stacking pallets for transport or storage.
- Basic Equipment Checks – Able to perform routine checks and minor maintenance on forklifts.
- Teamwork & Communication – Previous experience working closely with logistics or warehouse teams
