What are the responsibilities and job description for the Directional Drill Operator position at BT Construction?
Position Requirements and Responsibilities:

General Requirements:
- High school graduate and some college courses preferred, MUTCD training, traffic control training, trench shoring training, CPR training, First Aid training and motor vehicle training. Writing skills and general math are essential to complete required red line drawings (as directed by the foreman), daily reports (as directed by the foreman), accident reports, equipment maintenance reports and any other required documentation on the project. You must possess a class A CDL with tanker endorsement and no other restrictions on class A CDL license.
- 3 years or more of increasingly responsible experience in the HDD construction industry associated with small to large scale HDD projects. The HDD equipment ranges from 24k lbs. machine up to 140k lbs. machine. Bore mud mixing knowledge.
- Current driver’s license with a driving record to meet the minimum requirements of company insurance agency.
- Skills and ability required to operate and complete pre/post work inspections and minor maintenance of vehicles and equipment of various types.
- English language is required, both in verbal and written forms, as well as be able to interpret blueprints, plans, project hazard analysis forms, instructions, manuals, and any other general company or specific project related safety documents.
- Ability to coordinate assigned activities on the work site, including educating all field personnel or crew members, conducting on-site housekeeping inspections daily.
Physical Ability Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and control equipment and materials up to 50 pounds, have the ability to walk throughout the construction work site, navigating around construction materials and equipment safely.
- Excellent eyesight, with or without correction and excellent hearing.
- Standing, walking, operating equipment and driving for long periods of time.
- The position frequently requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and lifting.
Work Environment:
- This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with a high commitment in meeting strict deadlines in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- The employee may be exposed to working conditions that include working near loud, large heavy equipment and near moving mechanical parts.
- This position requires working outdoors in inclement weather conditions, year-round.
- Early start workdays, occasional night and weekend work required.
