Travel Network Engineer

Business Technology Integrators (BTI), headquartered in Upper Marlboro, MD, is currently seeking an experienced, motivated, and customer service-oriented Travel Network Engineer to support a project with the Veterans Administration (VA).
This is a remote position that requires 50% national travel.
The successful candidate will participate and/or lead network infrastructure assessments and site survey projects for the customer enterprise.
Candidates must possess the following:

1. Expertise in network technologies such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks including Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Quality of Service.
2. Knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls, Up Logix LM83(x), Cisco LAN 9500 and 9300s highly preferred
3. Juniper MIST/XML knowledge
4. Familiarity with types of cabling, interfaces and accurate connectivity to other devices
5. The ability to add IP addresses

Duties will include:

1. Evaluating network design and configuration baselines and standards.
2. Performing work that will include a variety of complex features and require multi- or interdisciplinary approaches.
3. Examples of other activities include the following:
   1. The evaluation of network performance reports and provide network consulting support
   2. Engineering / re-engineering network consistent with customer service level requirements and approved requirements document (i.e. IPv6, multi-VRF, QOS, etc.)
   3. Planning logical addressing, redundancy, capacity (logical & physical).
   4. Providing technical information for, and final technical editing of, all documents and proposals

2. Must have great, customer-focused, team-oriented communications and consultative skills, be highly accountable, be self-directed and productive with strong work ethic, be willing to show “presence” and availability on IM during business hours.
3. Must be willing to follow client templates and instructions with approach.
