Under the guidance of the Vice President, Business Development & In Vitro Pharmacology, the Business Development Specialist is responsible for driving revenue growth through effective study quotation and proposal development. This role involves close collaboration with Study Directors, utilization of HubSpot CRM, and a focus on understanding the San Diego preclinical research market. The Specialist will manage the quotation process, maintain client relationships, and identify new business opportunities.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Study Quotation and Proposal Management (40%)
- Prepare detailed and competitive study quotations based on project requirements.
- Collaborate with Study Directors to review and refine study proposals, ensuring alignment with client needs and profitability.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, proposals, and related communications in HubSpot CRM.
- Identify opportunities to optimize pricing strategies and improve profit margins.
Client Relationship Management (30%)
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide timely and accurate information.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and cross-sell to existing clients.
- Address and resolve any client concerns or issues promptly and effectively.
Market Analysis & Business Development (20%)
- Stay informed about trends, key players, and the competitive landscape in the San Diego preclinical research market.
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and potential clients.
Reporting and Administration (10%)
- Prepare regular reports for the VP of Business Development, summarizing activities, progress, and market trends.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in HubSpot CRM.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of business development strategies.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.

Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong understanding of preclinical research and drug development processes.
- Proficiency in using HubSpot CRM for managing client interactions and sales pipelines.
- Knowledge of the San Diego preclinical research market and its key players.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Job Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development or sales within the preclinical research or life sciences industry.
