What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal - Summer Associate position at Buc-ee's Ltd?
Overview
The Summer Associate is to provide services to the legal counsel and other staff members in the Legal Department.
Note: This position is a short-term, temporary, 6-week internship. This is an in-office opportunity only- hybrid or remote options are not available.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare initial drafts of legal pleadings at the direction of the attorneys
- Prepare initial drafts of contracts at the direction of attorneys
- Negotiate contracts
- Assist attorneys in the coordination of discovery in litigation
- Research legal matters
- Prepare memoranda of legal issues
- Draft and/or revise policy and procedure documents at the direction of attorneys
- Gather and obtain evidence, as necessary, in support of disputes, lawsuits, trademark filings, and regulatory matters
- Assist attorneys with collecting background information on property damage, potential new vendors, and for other miscellaneous purposes
- Maintain confidentiality
- It is an essential function of this job for the employee to work in office/in the employee’s assigned work site. No remote work is available
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
- Employee must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
The position requirements include, but are not limited:
- Bachelor’s Degree, plus at least one year of law school courses
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be diligent and conscientious; self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
- A professional appearance/presentation
