Buchanan General Contracting is looking to hire a full-time Bookkeeper with construction bookkeeping experience. Buchanan has been around for 40 years. We do roughly $18-25 million in revenue each year.
As the Bookkeeper for BGC, you will play a crucial role in managing our financial records and ensuring accurate and efficient financial operations. You will work with our team to maintain financial data, monitor expenses, and support the smooth functioning of our construction projects. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Use accounting software "Construction Partner" for all bookkeeping entries. It is an older system that requires some self-teaching.
- Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial documents.
- Process invoices, subcontractor pay applications with waivers and lien releases, purchase orders, quarterly taxes and payment requests in a timely manner.
- Generate financial reports and summaries for management review, providing insights on the company's financial performance.
- Payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements.
- Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships and ensure timely payment processing.
- Assist our CPA in preparing financial statements, WIP Lists, and coordinating with external auditors during the audit process.
- Optimistic and upbeat; self-starter comfortable working sometimes solo and with our team.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our financial processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role, preferably within the construction industry.
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Adobe pdf.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of construction-related financial operations (e.g., job costing, change orders) is a plus.
- Understanding job costing, and construction trade codes.
- A degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
