AI Integration Engineer

We are currently searching for an AI Integration Engineer for our Pittsburgh, PA location. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Buchanan’s AI capabilities through the development and implementation of our generative AI platform, Artifex. This dynamic full-stack position is at the forefront of technological innovation, where you will lead groundbreaking initiatives that transform how our firm leverages AI to drive operational efficiency and enhance client services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of Buchanan Artifex, the firm’s generative AI platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation and adoption of AI driven solutions across the firm.
- Develop optimized scalable vector databases to support return augmented generation in AI.
- Develop tools that interface with and processes output from cloud APIs.
- Design and implement AI safety controls at the web application and API layer working closely with security.
- Design and build fault-tolerant scalable infrastructure to support long-running large-scale AI tasks reliably despite failure of individual nodes.
- Design and build infrastructure for serving large AI models such as LLMs in our private cloud environment.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in digital adoption platforms and AI technology.
- Mentoring junior engineers by providing insights and best practices in AI software development and integration, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Write detailed documentation for our AI systems, processes, and best practices to ensure clarity and facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other technical field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience designing and building web, automation and/or AI solutions to address business needs.
- Strong knowledge of generative AI principles and AI prompt structure.
- Firm understanding of UX principles and web design programming languages; HTML, CSS, Node JS, React, JavaScript and/or TypeScript, Python, Perl, etc.
- Experience following Agile software development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban).
- Ability to effectively manage, maintain and scale Docker containers and Linux hosts.
- Ability to use Azure DevOps Repos for source control and deployment of all code projects.
- Ability to understand technical possibilities and limitations of AI platforms and to explain complicated technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in a deadline-driven environment and multitask/prioritize a workload of competing priorities.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally to create alignment and support; ability to independently manage several projects simultaneously and operate under tight deadlines; background in organizational change management is a plus
