Trademark IP Specialist
Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is a national law firm with a proven reputation for providing progressive, industry-leading legal, business, regulatory and government relations advice to our regional, national and international clients.
We are currently searching for a Trademark IP Specialist for the Intellectual Property section of our King of Prussia, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, DE or Alexandria, VA offices. This position will assist attorneys and paralegals in all aspects of domestic and foreign trademark prosecution. Candidates with knowledge of U.S. Patent prosecution, a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiate onboarding process for new clients and existing clients.
- Prepare and file Applications, Responses, Statements of Use, extension requests, Amendments and maintenance documents with the USPTO.
- Prepare and file documents with TTAB; responsible for making sure all deadlines are forwarded to CompuLaw docketing.
- Prepare and forward reminder letters/emails to clients regarding impending due dates.
- Independently draft correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Maintain docket, including but not limited to, daily docket review, communicating with Attorneys on actionable items, advising Docketing Department of any changes and daily filings via e-mail.
- Ability to search US and foreign trademark databases.
- Process and forward incoming USPTO and foreign mail to appropriate paralegal for handling and calendaring same for follow up.
- Create and maintain client profiles.
- Provide administrative support to the trademark team, including scheduling meetings and managing calendars.
Required Education/Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years of Trademark experience required. Knowledge of Patent prosecution a plus.
- High school diploma required. College degree a plus.
- Prior use of a document management system, NetDocs a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of practice-specific rules, laws, court forms and filing procedures.
- Knowledge of IP docketing system software, preferably Foundation IP (FIP).
- Ability to use TSDR, USPTO search database, TEAS, ETTSA and TTABVUE. Experience with Corsearch platform a plus.
- Ability to communicate professionally both written and verbal.
- Ability to organize/prioritize workload and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed.
