Buchheit Inc is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Retail Part Time Truck Unloader to join our team.
Job Summary:
The Retail Part Time Truck Unloader is responsible for sorting and racking lumber according to grade markings and size. This role requires operating a forklift or industrial truck to assist in moving and loading materials and products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, identifying, and directing customers to building materials and merchandise in the lumber yard.
- Load merchandise onto store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer.
- Assist with unloading deliveries as necessary.
- Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack, according to grade and length.
- Read work orders, invoices, or follow oral instructions to determine materials or containers needing moved and/or loaded.
- Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise.
- Maintain the appearance of the yard and racks in an orderly and clean manner.
- Operate forklift or industrial truck to assist in loading or moving merchandise and materials.
- Complete daily forklift inspections.
- Adhere to Loss Prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures.
- Exhibit safety awareness of anything in the store that may be hazardous to employees or customers.
- Effectively communicate customer issues and concerns to all applicable internal staff members.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic.
- Forklift experience is preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple verbal or written instructions.
- Effective communication skills with customers, management, and co-workers.
- Demonstrate initiative and effective problem-solving skills within the scope of the position.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
