We are looking for a Fabrication Support Specialist to join us in our fabrication operations to create the highest quality knives.

SUMMARY

The Fabrication Support Specialist is responsible for expediting parts through fabrication work centers, communicating found issues to the correct support teams and garnering assistance for fabrication technicians as needed. Focus will be placed on ensuring quality standards are being met and communicating between work centers and internal customers when non-compliances are discovered. Interface between QA, Engineering and fabrication floor for support and dispositions. Through interaction with fabrication technicians, identify opportunities to improve processes, clarify work instructions, streamline steps and reduce scrap. Promote an efficient, productive team environment to meet productions goals and requirements while maintaining safety at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with all standard safety practices, company rules and policies.
  • Will physically move parts between operations and scan to correct locations.
  • Will perform work center QA audits, filling out inspection sheets.
  • Responsible for garnering support for fabrication technicians in the form of QA/ME assistance.
  • Perform Quality checks in all grinding centers to include dimensional and visual inspection.
  • Verification of complete and accurate paperwork at the machine and in all trays of parts being moved.
  • Inform Lead/Supervisor of any and all quality deviations, mechanical issues, engineering support needed and process nonconformities found.
  • Ensure quality of parts while moving at a steady pace as to not impede deadlines and checking tray quantity accuracy.
  • 5s and Operator Preventative Maintenance audits to ensure work is completed according to the agreed upon schedule.
  • Audit setups, ensuring they are producing good parts.
  • Verify processes are being followed in accordance with the Standard Work Instructions.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors on personnel issues and address any immediate situations that may occur in work area.
  • Ensure Operators have the tools, resources and parts needed to complete tasks to reduce operator time away from work center.
  • May serve as back-up to lead where needed.
  • Act as communication liaison between leads, supervisors, interdepartmental staff and engineering/QA support.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Must have the ability to discern when help is needed and seek it out.
  • Ability to determine work priorities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
  • Must possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Able to work well independently and as a team with little supervision.
  • Must be proficient with computers, Microsoft programs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • GED/High School Diploma or related experience and training.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Supervising experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel parts; reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds for the duration of the shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Hearing and eye protection is required while working on the production floor. The work environment may include office areas, manufacturing areas and warehouse/shipping areas.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.50 per hour
