JOB TITLE: Controller
DIVISION: General Admin
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
JOB SUMMARY
· The Controller is responsible for leading all accounting and finance functions of the Company, ensuring financial statements are in compliance with GAAP, and providing strategic insights to senior leadership.
· The Controller ensures the accuracy of all journal entries, assets, liabilities, and reconciliations required for the reporting of the results of operations for all Buckeye Broadband companies.
· The Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
· Direct reports for this position include Senior Accountants, Staff Accountants, and Financial Analysts.
· This position supports and serves as the primary backup to the Chief Financial Officer.
· This position regularly supports Block Communications, Inc. and all members of the Buckeye Broadband Management team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Controller is accountable for the following items:
· Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
· Manage month-end and year-end close procedures and ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
· Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and industry standards.
· Manage annual external audit and ensure all audit workpapers are prepared timely and accurately.
· Lead and develop the accounting team by providing guidance and training. Set performance standards and expectations for the team.
· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, providing insights to senior leadership.
· Develop and maintain a system of internal controls over financial reporting.
· Serve as the primary interface with Department Heads to develop financial reports and analysis to assist in decision making.
· Following and enforcing the Company’s policies and procedures, including the EEO guidelines and safety, at all times.
· Perform any other departmental or company duties as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent degree - Required
· Certified Public Accounting License – Required
· 7 years of relevant experience – Required
· 3 years of management experience – Required
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles - Required
· Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel – Required
· Prior public accounting experience – Preferred
· Prior experience with Sage X3 software - Preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Walking, kneeling, standing, stooping, sitting, driving, hearing, talking, vision (close, distant, color, depth perception, adjust focus), and use of hands and fingers. Light lifting of 25 lbs. is occasionally needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
· The Controller is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Working hours may vary to accommodate the needs of the department.
· The Controller works in an automated business office environment with business office equipment including telephones, personal computers, copy machines, and FAX equipment.
· The Controller is required to drive on the job as needed and is subject to regular MVR checks. He/she must maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets Company standards for an insurable driver at all times. Any time these conditions are not met, he/she must not drive on the job and must immediately report it to their supervisor.
