Job Description:
As a counselor at Buckeye Clinic, you will provide individual and group counseling to adults dealing with substance use disorders. You will collaborate with clients on developing and monitoring treatment plans and progress. You will complete assessments and provide services within your scope of practice under the supervision of the Clinical Director. This role is an essential part of our interdisciplinary team, working collaboratively with medical professionals, peers, case managers, and other staff to provide holistic care to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for clients struggling with substance abuse.
- Assess client needs, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide ongoing support.
- Provide crisis intervention and case management as needed.
- Monitor client progress and document treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.
- Identify and advocate for clients' needs and assist with connecting them to additional resources, as needed
- Maintain accurate, confidential client records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Support clients in their utilization of community support resources (AA, NA, etc.)
- Address underlying comorbidities such as medical or mental health conditions in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain an attitude of openness to new ideas, learning, and collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- A degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field (associate’s degree minimum, bachelor’s and master’s degrees preferred).
- Active Ohio certification or licensure that is in good standing (LCDCII, LCDCIII, LICDC, LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC)
- Experience providing counseling or therapy in a substance abuse setting.
- Strong knowledge of substance use disorders, including DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria, treatment modalities, and recovery strategies.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain a nonjudgmental, compassionate approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as CBT, DBT, or motivational interviewing preferred.
